The Shravan month’s Kavad Yatra began today, Thursday, July 30, 2026, with chants of Bholenath. The Yatra will continue until August 11. The holy city of Haridwar is immersed in devotion and reverence for Lord Shiva. With the commencement of the Kavad Yatra, devotees embarked on the arduous journey to deliver Ganga water, considered Lord Shiva’s Prasad, to their Shiva temples.

Since this morning, large crowds of devotees have been seen at Haridwar’s Har Ki Pauri and Ganga Ghats, carrying the Kavad of faith on their shoulders and Ganga water in their hands. The colorful Kavads, saffron robes, and the atmosphere of Shiva Shakti have immersed the holy city in devotion. Every year, devotees display their faith in various forms at the Kavad Mela. This time too, a unique Kavad has become the center of attraction, decorated with genuine 10, 20, 50, and 100 rupee notes.

In view of the possibility of millions of Shiva devotees arriving in Haridwar, the police and administration have made extensive security arrangements. Even before the start of the Yatra, a large number of devotees were returning after collecting Ganga water, but the Yatra is officially considered to begin today.
