Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister BC Khanduri passed away on Tuesday, May 19th. He subsequently merged with the five elements today, May 20th. Vice President Radhakrishnan expressed his deep sorrow over his passing. He also visited Khanduri’s residence in Dehradun to pay his respects. Chief Minister Dhami, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and several other politicians also arrived in Haridwar to bid him farewell. Vice President Radhakrishnan stated that Khanduri’s contribution to the nation’s development was a milestone that will remain etched in history. Expressing his condolences, he stated that the country has lost a distinguished soldier, a capable administrator, and a politician of exceptional integrity. Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari, along with several other leaders, were reported to have arrived at Kharkhari in Haridwar, where they paid their respects to Khanduri’s mortal remains. It is reported that on January 17th, the Vice President visited Khanduri’s residence in Dehradun to meet and inquire about his well-being, recalling their relationship as former colleagues in the Lok Sabha. Three days of state mourning has been declared in the state on the demise of former Chief Minister BC Khanduri. Director of Secondary Education Dr Mukul Kumar Sati also issued an order in this regard, according to which government, non-government and private schools and offices of the state will remain closed from May 20 to May 23.

Former Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri passed away today, May 19th, Tuesday, at 11:10 am. Khanduri had been ill for a long time. The news of his demise has sent shockwaves through the state and the political world. The cause of his death is reported to be a heart attack. Chief Minister Dhami also expressed his condolences. He shared a post on social media, writing, “We have received the sad news of the passing of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri. He set an unparalleled example of national service, discipline, and dedication during his service to the Indian Army. From military to public life, his personality was dedicated to national interest and public service.” Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri was not only a leader but also a soldier, serving in the Indian Army for nearly 35 years. People also know him for his honest and strict administration. Today, people spend crores of rupees to cultivate an image in politics, but Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri is known for his work, simplicity, and discipline. As part of this MoU, the Chevening Uttarakhand Scholarship will send five students annually to prestigious universities in the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies. This initiative aims to provide students with world-class education and exposure to international academic standards. “This MoU will undoubtedly open new doors for our students in research, innovation, scholarships, entrepreneurship development, and internships,” said a spokesperson from the Higher Education Department. “Our government is dedicated to making the youth of Uttarakhand skilled and competitive on a global scale.
