Uttarakhand Becomes First State in India to Establish Project Management Unit with Tribhuvan Cooperative University..

Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to establish a Project Management Unit in collaboration with Tribhuvan Sahkari University. An MoU was signed on Sunday, June 14th, under the chairmanship of Cooperative Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, between Secretary of Cooperation Dr. Iqbal Ahmed and Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan Cooperative University, Prof. Shashwat Vishwas.

The Project Management Unit, established under this agreement for the next five years, will become a major hub for innovation, research capacity development, and institutional strengthening in the cooperative sector in Uttarakhand. This unit will work to identify new opportunities in the cooperative sector, conduct scientific studies, support policy development, and modernize cooperative institutions.

The PMU will also promote capacity building, business model development, marketing support, management improvement, and the use of modern technologies for PACS, District Cooperative Banks, Multipurpose Cooperative Societies, and other cooperative institutions in the state.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Cooperative Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah, the cooperative movement in the country has received new energy and direction. Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to establish the Project Management Unit of Tribhuvan Cooperative University, which is a matter of pride for us. This PMU will become a hub for innovation, research, and knowledge-based development in the cooperative sector. This will help make the state’s cooperative institutions modern, competitive, and self-reliant, further strengthening the cooperative movement.

Tribhuvan Cooperative University Vice Chancellor Prof. Shashwat Vishwas said that this agreement with Uttarakhand is an important step towards promoting knowledge, research, and innovation in the cooperative sector. Through the PMU, the potential of the cooperative sector in the state will be thoroughly studied, and efforts will be made to implement national and international best practices in Uttarakhand.
