On Thursday, August 13th, the 2026-27 Convocation Session and the Youth Dialogue program were held at Doon University. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also attended the event. On this occasion, CM Dhami welcomed the new students and inaugurated several new development projects on the university campus.
During the event, CM Dhami made a major announcement, stating that two electric buses would be provided for Doon University students. Additionally, the university’s foreign language departments would be further improved, enabling them to provide skill-based education to students studying in other educational institutions in the state and provide employment opportunities to the state’s youth.

Required positions will also be created for the foreign language departments: Spanish, German, French, Chinese, and Japanese. The CM stated that the greatest strength of any nation is its youth. No one can stop a country from progressing if its youth possess the courage to dream, the determination to fulfill them, and the ability to work hard. India’s vast youth population is the strongest foundation for a developed India. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, important initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, Startup India, and Skill India are being implemented to provide new opportunities to the youth.

CM Dhami also inaugurated the Biological Science Laboratory building at Doon University, constructed at a cost of ₹11.2 crore (112 million rupees) and the Central Library building, constructed at a cost of ₹17.3 crore (173.9 million rupees), which will be named after Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
During the program, CM Dhami inaugurated the Doon University Community Radio Station, 88.4 FM. Two positions for the station will be filled: a program coordinator and a technical assistant. He stated that these institutional facilities will not only accelerate the university’s academic and research activities but will also play a vital role in the personality development of students.
The Chief Minister stated that today is an era of innovation. The state government is continuously working to ensure that the state’s education system is modern, quality-oriented, and aligned with future needs. In accordance with the National Education Policy, cutting-edge disciplines such as AI, machine learning, and big data are being promoted in universities and research institutions. Projects such as Science City and Astro Park are also underway in the state to encourage scientific research.
