Jhansi Court Takes Action Against Rakhi Sawant, Issues Non-Bailable Warrant

Trouble has once again increased for Bollywood’s drama queen, Rakhi Sawant. A fast track court (CAW FTC) in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against her in a nearly 16-year-old case. The court has issued strict instructions to the police to arrest and produce Rakhi Sawant before the court.
Due to her continued disregard for court orders, the court has directed the police to arrest Rakhi Sawant and produce her before the court at the next hearing on December 1, 2026. To avoid this legal action, Rakhi Sawant will now have to either surrender in court or seek a stay on the warrant or obtain bail from the High Court.
The entire case dates back to 2010, when Rakhi Sawant hosted a reality show called “Rakhi Ka Insaaf” on NDTV Imagine. During this time, 24-year-old Laxman Prasad Ahirwar, a resident of Hansari Prem Nagar, Jhansi, had come to the show to resolve his ongoing marital dispute with his wife, Anita.
According to the complaint, during the recording of the show, Rakhi Sawant used extremely vulgar, offensive, and insulting language against Laxman, publicly calling him “impotent.”

This public humiliation and defamation on the show left Laxman deeply traumatized. Unable to bear the social stigma and mental stress, he fell into a deep depression, stopped eating and drinking, and eventually died on November 10, 2010 (according to family members, he committed suicide).
Following Laxman’s death, his mother, Savitri Devi, filed a complaint at the Prem Nagar police station in Jhansi against Rakhi Sawant, the show’s director, and channel officials. A case was filed against Rakhi Sawant under sections 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), abetment to suicide, and criminal conspiracy. The court had been ordering her to appear in this case for a long time, but due to her failure to appear, a non-bailable warrant has now been issued.

Following the warrant’s issuance, Rakhi Sawant released a video on social media offering her clarification. An emotional Rakhi said, “I have nothing to do with this case. I was only the host of the show; the channel and writers wrote the script. The boy died due to illness, not the show. I am being harassed without reason.” Currently, according to legal experts, to avoid this warrant, Rakhi Sawant will have to either surrender in the Jhansi court or approach the High Court for relief.
